Our Mesrobian Trees

Standing tall and proud and in the center of all my childhood memories, the three most loyal and faithful friends, “The Mesrobian Trees”. Many would agree, these three big, beautiful, flourishing trees withhold such great significance to us all! Since I was a toddler, I vividly remember standing beneath these trees and fiercely looking up at them. Something about their natural beauty I found so fascinating and felt a level of peace like no other. They’ve seen and heard it all, from the happiest to the most emotional moments. The most memorable events, every morning prayer, endless laughter, deep conversations, unfortunate tears, and new encounters all occurred in the arms of these beautiful green leaves. The Mesrobian Trees have witnessed some of the best-kept secrets of all time. Most importantly they have kept us grounded and a distinct reminder of our roots. As you can imagine I experienced an array of disheartening emotions immediately in learning the news around the removal of these trees. However, I was made aware that the intentions are to plant three new trees in place of the three older ones which lifted my spirits rather quickly as I saw the silver lining behind it all. We weren’t losing anything, instead, we were gaining—New Beginnings! The planting of three new trees is a fresh start to new beginnings. These trees will grow with our youthful and new Mesrobian generation and allow them to create their own memorable moments which they will soon learn to love. May these new trees grow strong and tall, side-by-side, and always remind us of our deep Armenian roots. - Mary Javaherian
